A high-strung domestic chameleon meets the wild animals of the wild west in Rango, which the Tennessee Archive of Moving Image and Sound will show as a FREE matinee at Central Cinema (1205 N.Central St)

Oak Ridge native Gore Verbinski directed the 2011 animated movie that takes a sidelong, critter-centric look at the Western movie genre and won Best Animated Feature at the 84th Academy Awards. Sumptuous digital animation, offbeat humor, and inspired production design will appeal to grown-ups (along with a ten-gallon hat full of sly pop culture references), while the story of a tenderfoot lizard who learns to be a hero will captivate greenhorn moviegoers. Johnny Depp and Isla Fisher headline a star-studded vocal cast who bring the furry, scaly, and feathered denizens of a pint-size frontier town to life.

Attendees are encouraged to dress up as a cowboy or -girl, their favorite desert animal--or both! The film is rated PG.
