Event Details
Daytime Docs is a monthly film series featuring documentaries that bring awareness to diverse perspectives and life experiences through the power of visual storytelling.
With the CMA Awards just around the corner, we’re celebrating country music with the 2022 documentary Dusty & Stones. This film chronicles the remarkable ride of cousins Gazi “Dusty” Simelane and Linda “Stones” Msibi, a struggling country music duo from Eswatini (formally the Kingdom of Swaziland) who long for their big break. When they are unexpectedly invited to record in Nashville and to compete in a Texas battle of the bands, Dusty and Stones embark on their long-awaited first pilgrimage to the ancestral heart of country music.
Viewers are encouraged to stay after the screening to discuss the film. Then browse our Sights & Sounds collection to take home a few documentaries and films until our next screening! Can't make it? Stream this title, along with thousand of others, for free on Kanopy with a valid library card.
