Mayor Jacobs' 2022 reading voyage challenges our community to read one million hours together.
This year we'll complete three small reading challenges (see schedule below) to meet our million-hour goal. By participating in one, or all three challenges, you demonstrate to our community that you value literacy.
Sailing for home
Treasure awaits this fall as we sail for home. Beginning September 1, patrons can pick up a treasure map at any library location to join the final leg of our voyage. Track your reading time on your map, online, or download the Beanstack Tracker app
For every 5 hours you read in this challenge, earn a sticker badge for your map. Aim for just 20 minutes a day and read (or listen to) anything you want! When you’ve read 45 hours, pick up your prize at any library location by December 15.
Participants earn one sea-worthy prize for each challenge completed (up to three total). Styles may vary; available while supplies last.
Listeners and Tots collect one mini plush sea creature in each reading challenge. Choose one from 20 assorted styles.
Kids & Tweens select a miniature build-your-own aquatic creature for each challenge. Choose from a shark, crocodile, or turtle. Ages 4+ only.
Teens & Adults help Read City read one million hours and help save the oceans with reusables! Collect a telescopic straw set, foldaway shopping tote, and stainless travel mug. One per challenge.
