Enjoy the heartening program, “Microfilm, Manuscripts, and Mayhem: Joys and Trials of a Genealogy Junkie” by Charles A. Sherrill, retired State Librarian and Archivist of Tennessee, at 6:00 pm, Friday, November 7, 2025, at the East Tennessee History Center. The program is FREE and open to the public.
Sherrill began genealogical research at the age of 13 and has had a 50-year love affair with family history research. He will relate stories and incidents from his long career, including visits to snake-infested cemeteries, stealing library books, getting lost in the National Archives, and much more. Intended both to educate and entertain, this humorous and insightful keynote will appeal to all.
Sherrill's talk serves as the keynote session for East Tennessee Roots & Resources, November 7-9, 2025. The genealogical gathering is organized by Knox County Public Library and the East Tennessee Historical Society with support from Doug and Jane McCarty and Friends of Knox County Public Library.
