Event Details

The Tennessee Archive of Moving Image and Sound continues its free monthly screening series at Central Cinema with a program focused on the Tennessee Valley Authority. This two-part program will begin with THE RIVER (1938), presented on an archival 16mm film print. This vintage short documentary about waterway management and regional development holds a place in film history textbooks for its artistry and rhetoric, and recent climate events in our region make it ripe for revisiting.

The program will conclude with selections from TAMIS' collection of unique regional amateur films depicting TVA activity in East Tennessee, including newly-preserved material. This hour-long screening is FREE.
