Discover more of your family history through stories, historical events, obituaries, images, and more. Library subscriptions to Newsbank, Proquest and Newspapers.com provide access to hundreds of thousands of newspaper pages from thousands of papers throughout the world, including the Knoxville News Sentinel and the old Knoxville Journal. This workshop will provide tips for searching historic newspapers online effectively. 

Genealogy workshops at the East Tennessee History Center are free; however, pre-registration is required.

About the presenter: Since 1999, Eric S. Head, BA in history from the University of Florida, has worked at Knox County Archives, where he serves as county archivist. He is an active instructor in the genealogy classes co-presented by Knox County Public Library and the East Tennessee Historical Society (ETHS) and is  a contributor to the ETHS's magazine Tennessee Ancestors.

Head has served in various capacities with the Society of Tennessee Archivists, including as president in 2012-2013. He has experience researching at numerous facilities in the U.S. including the Family History Library in Salt Lake City, Utah; the New York City Municipal Archives; and the National Archives in Washington, D.C., as well as various local repositories in Canada. Head has also ventured overseas, looking for ancestors in Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
