Styracosaurus was a striking herbivorous dinosaur that lived during the Late Cretaceous period, about 75–72 million years ago. It belonged to the ceratopsid family, known for their elaborate frills and facial horns. Styracosaurus stood out with its large frill adorned with six long spikes and a single impressive horn on its nose, which could grow up to 2 feet (60 cm) long. These features likely served for defense, display, and possibly species recognition.
It measured around 18 feet (5.5 meters) long and weighed about 3 tons. Styracosaurus fossils have been found in Alberta, Canada. Like other ceratopsians, it was a plant-eater, feeding on ferns, cycads, and other vegetation using its sharp beak.
