On March 5–8, 2026, the Tennessee Archive of Moving Image and Sound presented a multi-day Celebration of Women in Old-Time Music. Guests enjoyed performances from the legendary singer-songwriter Alice Gerrard and other artists, plus a live recording of The Female Bob Dylan podcast, book talks, and a screening of the acclaimed documentary You Gave Me a Song, which chronicles Alice’s extraordinary life and musical legacy.
This celebration accompanied the Birthplace of Country Music’s exhibition, I’ve Endured: Women in Old-Time Music, featured at the Museum of East Tennessee History from October 2025 through April 2026.
The historic weekend was made possible in part by a grant from the Tennessee Arts Commission in partnership with the Arts & Culture Alliance of Greater Knoxville and the Friends of the Knox County Public Library.
