Daytime Docs Film Series - Toni Morrison: The Pieces I Am

Daytime Docs is a monthly film series featuring documentaries that bring awareness to diverse perspectives and life experiences through the power of visual storytelling.  

In honor of Black History Month and Toni Morrison’s birthday, we will be viewing Toni Morrison: The Pieces I Am (2019). Awarded the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction for her novel Beloved in 1988 and the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1993, Toni Morrison is widely regarded as one of America’s greatest storytellers. The film features interviews with Morrison as well as Oprah Winfrey, Angela Davis, Fran Lebowitz, and Barack Obama. Moira Macdonald of The Seattle Times writes, “The Nobel Prize-winning writer Toni Morrison has a voice like a warm blanket, and it spreads across the documentary “Toni Morrison: The Pieces I Am” irresistibly; when it’s over, you feel like a beloved friend has left the room.” Viewers are encouraged to stay after the screening to discuss this amazing film! 

Screenings will take place on every third Sunday of the month beginning in February in the downstairs meeting room at LML with a start time of 1:30 PM.
