Program Description

Event Details

It's game on in Read City this year! This production launches Mayor Jacobs's 2024 challenge to complete as many literacy missions as we can. Together, we can "level up" and earn prizes for reading, learning, playing, and exploring.

Real-life explorers Jacques Cousteau, Sophia Danenberg, Amelia Earhart, Matthew Henson, David Crockett, and Neil Armstrong will be brought to life on stage at the Historic Bijou Theatre by Knoxville Children's Theatre, along with immersive lights, video, and a storytime--all to encourage the audience to join Mayor Jacobs and Read City USA in the Daring Deeds adventure game. The production is free, but registration is required.

Don't miss special guests:

  • Knox County Mayor Glenn Jacobs
  • WBIR's Robin Wilhoit
  • A very special furry friend!

If you can't make the show, you can still participate! Pick up your gameboard at any library location beginning January 30, or track your mission status in Beanstack.

Be sure to join us at the Bijou Theatre, located at 803 S. Gay St. at 4:00 PM for all the fun!
