Event Details
Join writer, actor, and teaching artist Steve Sherman for a focused two-week workshop designed for emerging and early-career playwrights. This Saturday series zeroes in on the craft of comedic dialogue and scene structure, including how to shape a moment, build momentum, land a joke, and let character drive the humor.
Across two three-hour sessions, participants will explore practical techniques, experiment with new writing tools, and receive guided support as they develop or refine their own short scenes. Whether you are polishing a work in progress or stepping into comedy for the first time, this workshop offers clear and accessible strategies to strengthen your voice on the page.
This workshop is presented with Tennessee Stage Company in conjunction with its New Play Festival, January 6–18, 2026.
Registration
The program is free, but advance registration is required, as space is limited. When you register for the first workshop on January 10, you are automatically enrolled in both classes. (Participants may not register for January 17 only.)
