Scheduled maintenance

Scheduled maintenance is planned for the library's network that can affect catalog searching and the authentication service providing remote access to some licensed resources (such as Libby, Value Line, Morningstar, and several others). The service window is April 21, 2026 between approximately 9:00 P.M. and 6:00 A.M. and is expected to last between 1 and 2 hours.

In a career spanning more than 50 years, Alice Gerrard has known, learned from, and performed with many of the old-time and bluegrass greats and has in turn earned worldwide respect for her own important contributions to the music.

Known for her groundbreaking collaboration with Appalachian singer Hazel Dickens during the 1960s and ’70s, the duo produced four classic Hazel and Alice LPs on Rounder and Smithsonian Folkways that  influenced scores of young women singers.

We are pleased to showcase the life and music of legendary singer and songwriter Alice Gerrard. Following a talk with folklorist Emily Hilliard about recently published autobiography, Custom Made Woman, Alice will screen the documentary about her life, You Gave Me a Song, then perform a rare live music set at the Bijou Theatre.

Join us for A Celebration of Women in Old Time Music on March 5-8, 2026.
